Seeing pictures and hearing about the damage done to single track around Capilano/Gold Bar had a profound effect on the mountain biking community in Edmonton.

Luckily, EMBA acted quickly to restore these trails, with North Sun racers and organizers by our side. We were OVERWHELMED by their support! We called for 60 volunteers, and over 80 showed up. Many who had never joined us for a trail day before! We got the impression that the severity of the situation was understood, and participants wanted to do whatever they could to fix it. PLUS, North Sun Ultra, similarly a non-profit, donated $5000.00 to EMBA in addition to providing tons of volunteer support!!!

Crews were guided by our trail leads on how to flatten and fill in ruts, ensuring proper drainage in saturated areas. We used natural materials like logs and rocks to add support to trail edges and help mitigate erosion.

Here is a before-and-after comparison of a specific trail section, demonstrating the repairs made. Click the arrow on the right of the image to see the end result.

We appreciate North Sun for bringing the situation to our attention and taking immediate steps to remedy it as much as possible. We're proud to spearhead the repair initiative and eager to educate and inspire fellow trail users on caring for our beautiful river valley single track. Now, it's time to celebrate our hard work!

That is one happy EMBA trail lead!
