Over the past two decades, EMBA has grown into a community of riders, builders, and advocates who care deeply about Edmonton’s trails. Together, we’ve maintained and improved more than 70 km of singletrack, hosted countless trail days, and laid the groundwork for the next phase of mountain biking in our city.

But if there’s one truth we’ve learned, it’s this: trails don’t maintain themselves—and neither does an organization.

Why Trail Days Matter More Than Ever

Trail days are the heartbeat of EMBA. They’re where riders meet, where ideas are tested in the dirt, and where every shovel of soil builds not just a feature, but also community. Without them, trails deteriorate. Without them, new riders don’t find their place. Without them, our collective vision fades.

As we look to the future, trail days can’t be carried by a handful of the same dedicated people. We need more hands in the dirt, yes—but just as importantly, we need more leaders who are willing to guide others.

Stepping Up as a Lead

ree

Becoming a trail day lead isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about being willing to show up, to guide, to listen, and to inspire. EMBA provides the tools, training, and support—you provide the spark.

Leads are the ones who:

  • Welcome new volunteers and make them feel included.

  • Help organize safe, productive work days.

  • Keep the energy high when the work gets tough.

  • Pass on skills that keep the next generation building.

The more leads we have, the more trail days we can run. And the more trail days we run, the stronger our trail network—and community—becomes.

Leadership Beyond the Trails

Our need doesn’t stop at the trailhead. EMBA is powered entirely by volunteers, and we’re at an exciting point where innovation and fresh ideas can shape the future of the organization. We need board members, committee members, and project champions who are ready to:

  • Bring new life and energy into the organization.

  • Push forward ideas for trail strategy, signage, advocacy, events, and engagement.

  • Help EMBA grow into a broader trail society that serves the whole community.

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish EMBA would…”—this is your invitation to step in and make it happen.

The Next Chapter is Ours to Write

The future of Edmonton’s trails depends on leadership—on the trail, in the boardroom, and in our community. Whether you’ve been swinging a Pulaski for years or you’re brand new to volunteering, there’s a place for you to lead.

So here’s the ask: join us. Step up as a trail day lead. Put your name forward for a committee. Bring your ideas, your energy, and your passion. Together, we can ensure that EMBA not only maintains the trails we love, but also grows into the thriving, innovative organization our community deserves.

Let’s build the future—one trail, one leader, one idea at a time.
